OUR HISTORY
Bible Baptist Church began as Lakewood Heights Interdenominational Church in 1935. In 1957 the name changed to Lakewood Bible Baptist Church. Two years later Norman Pyle was called as pastor. We outgrew the Lakewood Heights location in Southeast Atlanta and in 1965 bought property at Cleveland Avenue and Brownsmill Road. In 1976 property was purchased on Valley Hill Road in Riverdale, and we moved for a third time. In 1997 we moved to our present location in Henry County. Norman Pyle retired in 2003, after 43 1/2 years as pastor. He was given the honorary title of Pastor Emeritus and continues to serve the Lord as a faithful member. Brad Blanton served as pastor from 2003 until 2011. The church called Pastor Loren Regier in 2012.
Since 1957 Bible Baptist Church has been in the business of teaching and preaching the Word of God. Pastor Norman Pyle faithfully pastored BBC for over 43 years. Although Pastor Pyle was a wonderful pastor and able counselor during those years, many members referred to him as, “Preacher Pyle” because of his commitment and God-given ability to “preach the Word…in season, out of season” - II Timothy 4:2. You will enjoy hearing Pastor Pyle’s testimony of how God saved him and worked in his life to eventually lead him and his wife, Jackie, to Bible Baptist. The Lord used Pastor Pyle’s leadership to ground our congregation in the Word, support missionaries around the globe, and plant other Bible-believing churches in the Greater Atlanta area. Pastor Norman Pyle went home to be with the Lord in February 2017.
